Pediatric Healthy Lifestyle Center

The Pediatric Healthy Lifestyle Center is a unique program dedicated to working with overweight/obese children and children at risk for developing diabetes.

Patients with a strong family history of diabetes and other risk factors are evaluated for diabetes risk. Patients are also checked for health conditions that are caused by being overweight/obese. Family participation is encouraged, and patient/family education varies based on the child’s age. The key points are to:

  • Prepare the child and family for lifestyle changes;
  • Continue on with behavior changes; and   
  • Keep up healthy habits for life.

Before an individual appointment is scheduled, the family must attend a group orientation session, depending on the child’s age. The program is open to referrals for children 2-18 years old.

A doctor’s referral is needed to enroll in this program.

  • Pre-registration through VHP is required unless noted otherwise.

  • Classes and schedules are subject to change or cancellation at any time without notice.

  • A Waiver of Liability form must be signed to participate in any exercise or fitness class offered by VHP.
