Electronic Prescribing (ePrescribing) allows VHP providers to electronically access patients’ medication history, prescription benefits, and eligibility information.

Electronic Prior Authorization (ePA) enables VHP network providers to submit prior authorization requests for prescriptions electronically.

RxBenefit Check provides up-to-the minute information back to prescribers via the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). This includes patients’ pharmacy benefits, such as patients’ drug costs at the pharmacy, alternatives, and utilization management criteria.

Rx Benefit Check simplifies prescribing for patients, providers, and pharmacies. Benefit-specific information is available at point of prescribing via the EMR which:

  • Creates awareness of coverage, cost, and available alternatives for patients at the point of care
  • Lessens the administrative load and empowers medical decision-making for providers
  • Improves efficiency at the pharmacy counter

Your provider must continue to use the VHP Formulary when writing prescriptions, including those to be compounded. If an active ingredient in the compounded product is not on the VHP Formulary, your Provider is required to fill out a Non-Formulary Prescription Drug Prior Authorization Form.
